Bring the Institute to You!

Schedule an Institute for 2010

(Schedule by December 31, 2009 for a 2010 Institute)

As an association, we desire for people across the country to have an in-depth understanding of the principles and biblical philosophy of Christian Community Development. One way this can happen is through our Institutes: a one or two-day event where we bring in our best practitioners for 5 hour classes designed to “dig deep” and help participants gain a fuller understanding of one of the key components of Christian Community Development.

An Institute can consist of one or more classes selected from the following topics:

• Empowerment
  
  • This is a feature class for 2010 to be taught by Dr. Mary Nelson, author of our new Empowerment Toolkit
• Relocation: Living Among the People
• Indigenous Leadership Development
• Reconciliation: Bridging the Racial Divide
• Wholistic Ministry
• Redistribution: Working Towards a Just Distribution of Resources
• Listening to the Community
• Church-Based Community Development
• Developmental Youth Ministry
• Economic Development in the Hood
• Harnessing the Forces of Gentrification for the Kingdom
• Developing Urban and Suburban Partnerships
• Equipping Youth for Financial Literacy

The best Institutes are collaborative efforts of several groups in a city coming together to promote and assure the success of the Institute. As an example, we are doing an Institute in Phoenix in a couple weeks and there are almost 20 groups who have partnered together with Neighborhood Ministries to make this Institute happen.

The needs and expenses for an Institute include:

• A location/venue for training
• Presenter expenses (travel, lodging, meals & honorarium)
  • $1500 (estimated expenses)
• Lunch expense for each day
• CCDA administrative fee
  • $1000 (negotiable based upon capacity)

Institutes are designed with a fee structure for participants. The host team sets the price point. With good promotion, these fees can cover all the expenses.
